Sanctuary For Senior Dogs needs help
2:07:00 PMOld Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary is an organization which goal is:
- To provide a loving home, good food, high quality vet care, compassion and comfort to senior dogs for the remainder of their lives.
- To build a ForeverFoster Home network to enable us to place more senior dogs in loving, home settings for the duration of their lives.
- To provide education on the joys and challenges of caring for aging dogs.
- To work with other dog rescue groups to promote the adoption of senior dogs.
Their Sanctuary is based in Mount Juliet TN, generally housing approximately twenty senior dogs at the Sanctuary and others in temporary and Forever Foster Homes.
On the 19th August the county zoning board contacted by few neighbors who thought that the OFSDS has grown too large for their neighborhood gave the organization 60 days to move Sanctuary. Now they are trying to work through a lease and are looking at other options that are more public then they were till now. This will allow them to grow the Sanctuary more and give room for more volunteers and other supporters and potential families to visit. Problem is, the time that they have been given is an issue and they need to come up with a solution asap if they want to avoid fines and legal penalties.
"We have promised our Old Friends that we will care for them for the rest of their lives and we will NEVER go back on that promise. We don’t often ask for donations, but moving will be expensive and now is a special time for us"
The donation page is here: http://oldfriendsseniordogs.com/donate.html. If you can donate, any amount, please do!
"Ultimately, this will be a GREAT move for OFSDS, we just have to get through this transitional stage. We will come out STRONGER and BETTER and in a position to help more Old Friends on the other side."
